Starline® CIPL Technology
Starline® CIPL can line pipelines from 4” to 48” in diameter, creating a durable and impermeable composite pipe within the original pipeline without affecting flow capacity. Ideal for midstream and upstream pipeline sector applications for systems operating between 0-350 psi to eliminate inadvertent emission of un-odorized natural gas releases due to leaks and resultant GHG issues. Rigorously and independently tested by PHMSA, academia and industry leaders, the trenchless pipeline rehabilitation technology has been proven to eliminate leaks, reduce methane emissions and extend the life of pipelines by 100 years.
PPM is the sole licensee in North America for the Starline® Cured-In-Place-Lining (CIPL) technology for natural gas pressure pipeline rehabilitation.
NYSEARCH/Northeast Gas Association (NGA) completed a two-year CIPL research and development project in 2015 with support from National Grid, PECO Energy, Public Service Electric and Gas and Con Edison that included funding support from PHMSA. The project was in collaboration with Cornell’s independent pipeline infrastructure experts. The independent testing with lined pipe in live pressurized gas service determined a 100 + year viability of field-aged Cured-in-Place pipe as alternative to full pipeline replacement. CIPL is validated for pipeline renewal and a viable option to conventional replacement methods for cast-iron and steel distribution pipelines.
