This pocket-sized (3″ x 5″) stainless steel gauge measures the depth of pitting in pipe and other steel surfaces by lowering the indicator into the pit and reading the depth from the scale. Sold complete with a leather pouch.
Directions for Use
The Pipe Pit Gauge is placed on the edge along the pipe and the indicator arm is depressed until the stylus touches the bottom of the pit or crater. The depth of the pit is then indicated on the scale marked on the body of the gauge. This can be compared with the nominal wall thickness of the pipe. Data printed on the body of the gauge includes a 0 – 4.5 inch ruler, weight per foot and formulas which are likely to be of use to the pipe coater.
